LeRoy Market Earlybird Weekly Flyby for 5/26/12


Greetings all,

Here’s our first weekly post. At present, we have only a few vendors who have let me know specifically what they will be bringing, but several others who will be showing up to sell a nice variety. I’m going to offer the option for those who don’t have email to call me with their list. We’ll keep trying to get everyone onboard.

Recipe(s) of the Week

Pesto With Ramps Recipe by Willow Robinson

Ingredients: Approximately equal parts of the following

Olive Oil


Ramps (Wild Leeks)

Process plants and oil to make a paste.

Also try using parsley or basil.

Freeze in ice-cube trays and bag up.

Note: By the end of May, the leaves of leeks will be too far gone to use but the bulbs will be nice and big.


Parmesan Encrusted Asparagus

Recipe by Brenda Bunnell

1 lb. asparagus

1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil

1/4 to 1/2 cup shredded parmesan cheese

Preheat oven to 450 

place asparagus on baking sheet in single layer

drizzle oil over asparagus and toss

cover with parmesan cheese and bake 12-15 min. until cheese is melted and asparagus is crisp

serve with balsamic vinegar
